Attack on Retro, developed by Triple Edge Studios and powered by Microgaming takes the player to the anachronistic cyberpunk Retro City with 80s technology.
The player has to accompany Billie and Jessie on a quest to fight hostile alien forces invading the city.
Attack on Retro consists of a 5 reel, 3 row, and 10 payline slot. The player has the option of betting from $0.10 to $20.00 per spin of the reels, which is not a very high betting range and can win up to 5,000x their total bet during the free spins bonus.
Attack on Retro has 11 lower value symbols: eight are standard symbols, two wild symbols represented by Billie and Jesse, and a scatter symbol. These symbols offer 0.6 - 3x the players bet. The four higher value symbols are glove, ghettoblaster, musical instrument, and something similar to a Marty McFly’s hoverboard that offers 1 - 20x the players bet.
The Hyperspin feature available at all times in the base game lets the player choose to spin one reel while holding the other four, for a fee which amount depends on the value of the potential win.
The RTP rates of Attack on Retro vary from 95.58% — 96.08% with the 0.5% difference between when the player uses the hyper spin as opposed to not using it. The Random Wilds feature can be activated on any random spin. Upon activation, the reels are filled with 15 robot symbols that Billy and Jesse fire upon with lasers.
If they are hit, they turn into Wild symbols that can be used with other symbols to create winning combos.
The Free Spins feature gets activated by landing three scatter symbols or a max of 9 wilds on the middle three reels.
The Free Spins feature is of three types of options:
- 10 Free spins with a multiplier of 1x — Low Volatility
- 5 Free spins with a multiplier of 2x — Medium Volatility
- 2 Free spins with a multiplier of 5x — High Volatility.
All the controls of Attack on Retro are located at the bottom of the reels. The player has to first select the bet amount, ranging from £0.10 to £20.00, for a single turn of the reels that can be done from the bottom center area to the right.

To spin the reels, the player has to use the spin button or the autoplay button located to the right of the spin button. The autoplay can be configured to have optional conditions like stopping autoplay on a single win amount, upon triggering the bonus feature, etc. To win the Attack on Retro, the player must be able to land three or more standard game symbols of the same kind or a combination with two wild symbols.
The two wild symbols can tip the game to your favour if you are able to land more of them in the reels after each spin. Landing a mixed combination of five wild symbols on a payline can lead up to a payout of 1,000x while landing the same wild on two positions on a payline will offer a max payout of 2,000x.
Attack on Retro definitely has a visual appeal with fancy animations and graphics. Although the game doesn’t consist of a high jackpot, the volatile nature of the slot provides the player with the thrill and excitement of acquiring unpredictable big wins whose odds of occurring are quite slim.
